Why I am Publishing A Series Exclusively with Webnovel, and why I have no Regrets.
I knew what I was signing up for, when I signed up. In fact, I was sketchy from the very beginning when they contacted me. Why do I want to be published by webnovel? It’s a work horse site, no one can keep up with it, it’s a terrible place, etc. is heard a lot. So, I took my sweet time making decisions. Ultimately, it came down to this:
I am not a new author: I have been publishing for a lot longer than most people think. I have played the self-publishing game, still do, play the ebooks game, played the Amazon games, first select stages, second select stages, prime, exclusivity, non-exclusivity, global trying, etc. I’ve seen it all baby.

So why would someone who knew all that join webnovel exclusively? Yeah. Say that out loud to yourself a few times. It is a wonder. Truth is, I have not been surprised at all. In fact, I’m quite delighted how it has gone! So first up.
Work Horse 24/7 . . . no. I’m not a 24/7 work horse. I don’t write new everyday and then publish everyday. I did for a bit to see if it helped, but eh. No. Webnovel is just like a lot of other sites. There isn’t real magic. The work 24/7 comes from the MGS guarantee, but that’s not anything I strived for. Also, it only lasts four months.
I went there because I wanted something different, and I had a positive experience with my other work. I really reach readers there, especially in the fanfiction sector. I couldn’t believe it! I looked at the statistics though, and I think I am reaching new readers that maybe don’t have great access to ao3 and such in their country. The VPN stuff is crazy.
The audience is . . . more like my fanfiction audience and I love that.
If you aren’t the perfect editor, you will be burned alive in other book sites, even if your book is free. I hardly see that at webnovel. English might not be everyone’s first language since it’s not really a USA company. This means that since I am a native English speaker, I feel a lot more better about my skill, and I’m more interested in writing the story for the audience than spending months dissecting a chapter.
The audience doesn’t mind serial
The whole site is based on being a serial, so when serial is the best way that I’ve always written, it made sites like webnovel look like little dreamy sites to me. To be able to share an original work in progress, and have an audience for it. I wanted that.
I wanted bold and italics.
Yeah, I know what you are thinking, shut up. (Laughing). Yes, when I signed a contract, I knew I would get bold and italics. I plan on putting up a LOT of fanfiction on webnovel, so yes, I wanted bold and italics.

It was clearly not my number one reason, although it was close. LOL!
There aren’t many places that I can share my fanfiction and original fiction in the same place, that will both get an audience.
There is an audience for everything at webnovel! Whether it’s fanfiction or novel, there is someone there for it. Wattpad will let me share original and fanfiction, but the original does not get any love over there. Webnovel has mastered this place of having a lovely balance of readers for both, and I am here for it.
Most of all, I wanted my wolf pirates to just have a place to call home. I wanted people to read them, but they were also a new concept I hadn’t quite worked out yet. I keep ignoring my original because it had no real audience, and on webnovel, I find I am starting to spend a more balanced amount myself between the two. It’s really a nice feeling.
My Wolf Pirates are the only exclusive thing I have on webnovel. Only the first book costs as well, but the first book was designed not having to be read to enjoy the other books. (It is a standalone series so readers can jump in any book and enjoy the journey.) Also, the first book has a lot more drama than I wanted in it. It was still a little funny, but much work is needed for the sequels to be more adventure funny feeling. I really hope separating the couples into separate books into separate situations really helps pull it together.
Most of all, I can be a published author and write sweet wolf books.
People who also visit webnovel and see what else I have, will eventually find more free books that aren’t exclusive. Exclusive is a nice gateway though to getting readers, to see other books that aren’t exclusive.
I can also be a published author and write sweet other books.
Some of My Dead Faerie Tales I placed with AnDtertainment as a publisher. I have two publishers now!:) It is non-exclusive, so I can keep selling and printing these book and have them off site. Which is good because publishing with them took forever, and all it took me to was webnovel, so I will publish directly to webnovel for the rest. However, I still have some chapters that I will either make money for, or get readers to come check out the site for. Win/win for me.
So do expect to see a lot more books coming in, (not exclusive) and especially the fanfiction. I have an audience to reach! And for me, as an author, that seems to be the one thing I always want more than anything.
For people to read me. Wherever they may be.:)
Now, everyone is different. Most would not do this, and that’s fine. I am not encouraging anyone to join in. It’s real easy to see all the nooks and crannies that could ruin you, if you don’t understand the contract. I just know, that for my weird needs of needing bold and italics, of wanting to reach a new and exciting audience, it was the right one for me.
I’m happy. I am not swimming in money nor did I plan to be. I’m just happy.
